Print Block Strips

Print Block Strips
The leaves need finer thread because of using several stitches for each leaf. So I've started a row the other way round, thick zz, finer leaf. Is the leaf thread fine enough? Perhaps not. I like the feather stitch leaves, but haven't done the sort of squashed stem stitch one very well. Perhaps I should try out the way it is done in the source piece. The original piece, an Indian sample of cotton/silk mix is embroidered in chain stitch, a line forming a zigzaggy curve, interrupted by each leaf done using 3 rows of chain. As is typical of Indian chain stitches they are small, very regular, and seem to be done in silk floss i.e. no twist in the thread. The piece is in creams, with a darker stripe of heavier weave alternating with the stitched stripes. It is only a small sample in the silk merchant's pattern book. A whole length must have been very beautiful.
